Lou the Not So Loud Anymore

It's been awhile since Lou the Loud has had his own post. That's really my fault, seeing as I'm the one writes the posts. I mean, that's really my fault, since I trained him not to meow loudly under my window at four AM. Do you know how difficult it is to train a cat to do anything?!?

Lately, though, Lou has once more taken to meowing at my window. Again, my bad. I've settled into a nice routine with him, letting him out at about nine, then bringing him in just before bed. Unfortunately, sometimes he doesn't come in, or he'll sneak out again when the dogs take their last potty break at night. He was doing okay with that, but then it got cold. Really cold. In the te
ens at night. So he'd begin meowing and I felt I had no choice but to let him in. And when I did, his coat was cold, poor baby.

Seeing as it's so cold, I can't exactly throw glasses of water on Lou. I mean, I could, but I just couldn't tell y'all about it. Then I'd get an earful about cruelty to animals, blah blah blah. None of y'all have met Lou. So hush.

So, since I'm posting about Lou, I've decided to post more than one picture, since it might be awhile before I visit Lou again. For your viewing pleasure, Lou the Loud. Two pictures. :)

Until I write again ...

Our two boy cats sleep in the garage because they have unfortunate habits in the house. They have an electric blanket though. Our girl cat sleeps inside, she is loud though. If she got trapped outside, you would know all about it!

Holding them under the tub faucet for a bit is a very effective training technique. Not recommended for children or hamsters however.

Is that what happened to Macy's first hamster, the one that bit? Hehe. I had to do that to a snake once so it would let go of my finger. Someday I'm going to have to tell me snake stories here.

AG - I know that loud meow! You have my sympathy.

Aw, Lou is a pretty boy. I am sure your tales of him annoying you must be greatly exagerated. :)

Dlyn - you know not of whence you speak. The cat is a demon spawn.

And Hallie, I thought it was a garden hose!

Hey, now, I HAVE met Lou :) Although he was not loud when I saw him. Granted I was not around at 4 in the morning lol. Poor Lou got quiet and lost his place in your blog. He may have to pick up a new bad habit....

Geez, I was wondering how you trained a cat to do anything. It's always about the water, huh?

I've heard removal of their vocal chords can be effective also. Drastic, yes - but effective.

Lou's a pretty cat - reminds me of a tom cat we had as a kid. His name was "Tom." Very original, eh?

i have to tell you i was just reading your sidebar to find out more about you. and i want to be your bff!!! i see the books you love. first a thorn in my heart. oh. my. gosh. i adore that book. and cry buckets everytime i read it. liz is going to be here at the end of the month and i'm going to get to see her. should be good stuff. then i saw that you liked some wildflowers in my heart. i stumbled across that book about 4 years ago. i got my book club to read it and very few people liked it. i try to read it at least once a year. it is amazing. the writing is so unusually. the story stays with you forever. and then there is the yada yada series. i am jodi just so you know. i cried when i read the last one. i'm going to miss them! sorry for the long comment! just wanted you to know i'm going to be a regular visitor from now on! moo!

He is a cutie. My son keeps a water spritzer to discapline the cat.

I'm laughging... Lou the Loud! I had a Barney that looked just like Lou. He would do the same thing and at night he would jump up on the bed and wake us up and if that didn't work, he would get on the night stand and knock everything off - including glasses and break them so we couldn't get out of bed b/c we would have to walk on glass! At 4 am it is NOT a nice thing!!!
Something happened to him after we moved here. He meowed to get in one night and I didn't let him in (because of the last 4 am water breaking event). He didn't show up the next morning, or the next, or ever... he was such a good loving cat I think someone took him home with them and let him in.

I spent two months getting up at 4 am and throwing a glass full of water out the door in his direction, sometimes several times a night. He finally learned not to wake me.
