Who Says I Don't Know How to Party?

I attended the best birthday party ever this evening! My little niece turned three today. Isn't she a doll? Red curls, big smile. At three she's till a huge fan of Dora, the "bossy little Latina who has sold her soul to the devil," to quote Burgh Baby's Mom. Dora really is bossy. But this little one loves her and Diego. She walked me around the house and pointed out all her favorite characters - Swiper, Boots, Baby Jaguar, that Bull thing. Tico? I forget all their names.

As I'm leaving the house, headed to the store to buy a gift, my Hunny says, "Anything but Dora. She has GOT to be through that faze." You'd think so, after a year and a half, and only three years old. No. But I said okay and dropped in at a
Walgreen's on the way to the party, looking for a coloring book and crayons, wanting to find some dancing princesses or jungle animals. What was the first thing I saw? Guess. Go ahead. If you said a Dora coloring book, you'd be right! Not only that, but it TALKS! I'm an aunt. I can buy gifts that make noise and need batteries. It's my JOB. And I love my job. :)

Look at that picture above again. See her hands over her ears? She stared entranced at the book for the longest time, pressing the speaking buttons over and over. And put her hands over her ears. The book is "too loud". No volume control. Hehe. I mean, oh how sad.

My mom was taking pictures at the party tonight and I must say she does a fantastic job. I absolutely love this one with the older sisters doing their best to squish the birthday girl like a grape. I stood there waiting to see if her head was going to pop, but no dice. Very disappointing. In lieu of a Tico pinata, it would have at least been interesting. Oh well.

All said and done, it was a fun party. Good chocolate cake with peppermint frosting. Orange peppermint frosting. Blue Bell ice cream. Dora out the wazoo. Happy Birthday, Yibby!

Until I write again ...

You are lucky because your kids are older so there is no payback. I used to buy my neices and nephews musical instruments (drums, guitars, pianos shakers etc). I'm scared now!!
ps. That little girl is CUTE!!

My favorite part of being an auntie is buying the noisemaking, mess inducing gifts! Make up and lots of beaded jewelry? Abso-freakin'-lutely! Toy phones that have loud, obnoxious rings? Yup. Feather boas that shed all over the darn place? Oh yeah.

And? When my little nephews are bigger? They are going to get the exact same noisy "musical" instruments that their daddy gave to MY boys. >;)

Only it will be sooo much better.... they're twins! Two of everything!

*sigh* I love my job! ;)

I've been a good aunt all these years and purposefully shied away from the noisemakers so you and big brother wouldn't kill me. I've missed out on so much. :(

Never fear, your kids' birthdays are coming up and I'm sure I can come up with something annoying for teenagers. Mwhahahahaha!!!!

Oh geez. Oatmeal Head wants drums and were seriously looking ,so I don't know if you could get any more annoying than that. Have fun trying, though! Mwahaha.

Those are possibly some of the cutest girls I've ever seen in my life. (Well, except for mine, of course!!) I've seen you all over the place and am not sure why I haven't visited before now. Thanks so much for all the support during my recent mini-blog-crisis. I'm so glad to be making so many new bloggy friends through the ordeal!!

I'm now glad that you aren't a relative. I couldn't handle any more Dora noise making around my house. :-)

All of the girls are aDORAble! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
