All's Quiet on the Southwestern Front

My children are upstairs watching television. We no longer have cable, and it takes quite a bit to capture their attention, but Grandma called this evening to let us know that PBS was running a show they hadn't seen. A couple of years ago, while home schooling, I'd read to them the first book in a series, as a reading assignment for a group we belonged to. The boys weren't wild about the choice of books, but by the third chapter they were hanging on every word. Right this minute they're about two hours in and haven't stirred once. I hear the boys commenting, trying to remember what would happen next. Especially when Anne had Diana over and was supposed to serve the cherry cordial. Which was in the basement. And she got Diana drunk instead.

Yes, they're watching Anne of Green Gables. And all is right with the world. All so quiet, allowing me to pack, vacuum, do laundry, scrub tables. Peaceful and purposeful. It just doesn't get any better, especially when a trip is looming. No one's fighting. You moms know what I mean, don't you? It seems that every time a trip is up and coming, the kids get antsy, and before you know it a fight breaks out. Not tonight! Excuse me. I have clothes to fold.

Until I write again ...

Lol...funny but I've never read that. I somehow skipped over that. I will definitely read it to the little princess though.

lucky! I have to send the kids to daycare and work from home in order to get ready for a trip without interruption.

Oooh!!! I LOVE Anne of Green Gables. And I love watching the movie(s) too. They have marathons on PBS periodically. All my kids like them too!
