Hey! I'm off to the optometrist for a fitting for my new contacts. I haven't worn contacts in nearly 20 years, but I thought that it was time to try them again. Well, I tried about 5 years ago, but the torics, for astigmatisms, didn't fit properly. Evidently my astigmatism's pretty bad.
My new optometrist - not a WalMart eye doctor - is fantastic. They went through an extremely thorough test. Twice. The real test will be whether or not I can handle being in contacts again.
So off I go! I'll let you all know, on the other end of this, how it goes. Oh! And our cheap prescription glasses from Zenni arrived on Saturday! Sixty bucks for the three pair! We like them, but Oatmeal Head says his are girl glasses. Oh, the hazards of not being able to try them first! I'll know this afternoon what his friends think. :)
Until I write again ...

Yeah for cheap glasses! I hope you can get contacts, and that OH doesn't get laughed out of school.
Good luck. Brandon got new contacts recently and it's pretty amazing what they can do now. He actually is able to wear soft lenses again, for the first time in years. :)
I do pretty good with contacts, despite my astigmatism. I hope you end up with the same results!
Good luck with the contacts, I'm still trying to get used to them 6 months later ;)
Maybe the contacts will work out this time. Glasses are a royal pain any way you go about it. I wear reading glasses, so I buy cheap ones because I need about 10 pair so I can find one when I need them.
Connor USED to feed his snake that way. I have NO IDEA when he stopped!!!
Hallie :)
Yes good luck with the new eyes!!
Good luck!

My daughter wants contacts, but I have a phobia of touching eyes and I can't even stand to watch anybody put contacts in.
How cool about the cheap glasses. I hope the contacts work out this time. I have worn mine for 23..almost 24 (has it really been that long?!?!?!?) years. Timothy will be trying them soon. With sports it is really difficult to wear glasses so I asked our eye Dr about them and he said normally not till 12 or older, but since I have worn them forever... We have spent $100s on sports glasses that will not stay put with helmets, etc so hopefully this will work out. Good luck and I hope no one else thought the glasses were too girly.
Hey guys! Thanks! Margo - am interested in hearing more about Brandon's contacts and how it's working for him.
Tammy - my Hunny has the same phobia, but I told my kids that if they wanted contacts, they needed to practice touching their eyeballs. They started immediately. :D
Which means, Candace, that Oliver can get contacts this summer. At the optometrist's request. Little Guy's cousin of nearly 11 got contact last fall and is doing fine. Timothy will do great. If he doesn't, I highly recommend zennioptical.com. Three pair of prescription glasses, with shipping, for $60. And Oliver is over thinking they're girly. His classmates like them. Yay!
So glad to know I am never too old to keep trying contacts...thanks flea ba-bee! See ya in a week...
Someone should take their new eyes to my blog.....
