I don't have much time, between trying to squeeze in sleep and children's doctor's appointments - the roofers delivered roofing materials this morning, asked me to move my van, and there was no more sleep. Stink. But I had to respond to you all about the ironing. After I stopped laughing.
I did NOT grow up in an ironing household. My mom and Margo will attest to that in a heartbeat. Something about my mother having to wear itchy starched clothes as a child and the maid doing all the ironing. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE linen. And fine cottons. And I love for them to look crisp and beautiful.
On top of that I love to smock and sew heirloom clothing for babies. No, no store. Smocking takes many, many hours and doesn't pay to do it for money. But sewing and smocking means pressing every single step of the way. And it feeds my soul. Sick, huh? You ironing addicts understand.
Now let me address those of you with the vacuuming addiction: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!? Ironing I do once a week. But I know you vacuuming fiends. You do it EVERY DAY. Sick, sick, sick. I mean, you can send me your ironing, but I can't send you my carpet. Maybe that's what's got my panties in a bunch.
Pinky swear, I'm catching up on all of you this weekend.
Until I write again ...

I think you must have hit your head somewhere... oh wait, you did.
For the record, I hate ironing and vacuuming both. But I hate vacuuming more....
My mom love to iron too. Because of this I can't iron at all. I'm not lying see when I had something that needed ironing and I didn't want to do it, I knew that if I set the ironing board up in front of her and ironed wrong she would take over. Because of this I never learned to iron right lmao
I despise all housework...and my house reflects this. So all you chore-lovin' women are free to come go crazy on my house! You'll love the huge piles of ironing! The expanses of carpet that need vacuuming...I will open my home to your addictions! :D
I'm with Marguerite and Collen. All of the above. I do remember that one of my father's many complaints about my mother was that she stopped ironing his shirts. SHE said that's why they invented permanent press, but he wasn't buying it.
I grew up in a house where the extra bedroom was where you went to find the clothes you needed for the day, or extra towels and such, cuz they were all piled on the spare bed. I brought that shortcoming with me into adulthood. As a result, I recently found a brand new dress that had been missing for 3 years under MY pile. Yes. Come clean for me. *waving hypnotic fingers at you all*
There aren't any household chores that really feed me that way. I do vacuum every day, out of necessity but I still hate it.
I think it is cool that you like the ironing, it is a good, clean passtime;)
I would love to see some of your sewing, I am so jealous of people who can make beautiful things.
Well I guess I’m pretty lucky … I don’t have to iron or vacuum …LOL… I live in Florida and right now it’s T-shirt and shorts. Winter time it’s sweat shirt or sweater and jeans. Oh if by chance I do have to wear something special. It comes off the hanger. And that is after it comes out of the dryer …LOL…
I don’t vacuum or clean much. It’s only me. My house looks like no one lives there. Maybe because I work a lot and I’m hardly at home …LOL… I forgot what a mess house looked like …LOL..
Hey I love your blog it makes me smile a lot. Thanks for dropping in I’m trying not to moooon to much right now …LOL…
You are still crazy you ironing nutty girl...new blog..."The Iron Princess" you could post every piece you iron for the satisfacction of completing it.
We could leave comments like, "Hey, nice collar, really stiff". Or, nice sleeve work!
Dude - I hate all housework. But I DO find vacuuming the most satisfying of housework because it's just like me. It's loud, it sucks, and it's a pain in the you-know-what to lug around.
I love smocked baby things. If I could still get my babies to wear it, I would be ordering some!
I make my hubby do the vacuuming, but you can still do my ironing. ;o)
People actually vacuum every day? Um. Yikes.
Then again, now that J has taken up finger foods (and is stashing in clothes, shorts, onsies, and diapers), I may need to as well. Dang it.
My mom is a ironing freak! Freak I tell you! She irons towels. No. I'm serious. Do you iron towels? If you do, that is OK. You are not a freak. Only my mom :-)
You were in my "suggested reads" or whatever it is called on Google. I have seen your name so many times so I finally decided it was time I checked out your blog. So glad I did. Love it.
Plan to come back time and time again. And now you are in my reader too!
