Fun House

It's never ending, the blog fodder, I tell ya.

I took Maybelline and Little Guy to a nursing home yesterday to play guitar and serve fresh cookies to the residents. Yeah, I got hooked up with a volunteer agent for a hospice organization and she'll occasionally call and ask if I can come and play. The kids seem to enjoy hanging out with seniors, and Maybelline lived playing for them. I just enjoyed talking and getting to know them.

Half an hour before we were supposed to head out for this, I'm headed back from Walgreen and back to school shopping (woohoo!) and get a call from home. Y'all, I'm only two minutes from home at this point. It's Little Guy. He says, "Mom, I tripped and fell and hit my head on the coffee table. There's blood in my hair and blood is running down my face. What should I do?"

Seriously? He was calm and cool, reporting the facts. So I responded in kind. Is there blood on your shirt? No. Go get a kitchen towel, wad it up and press it against your head. Sure enough, when I got home he was fine! Stuck his head in the sink and rinsed. Ready to go! I dug around in his scalp and it was a tiny scratch.

So. What next? Stay tuned for further developments!

Until I write again ...

That is funny...glad it wasn't too serious, though. Why do head wounds bleed so darn much?

I'm glad he's okay! This makes me MISS the maddening running around with a zillion things going on with kids! But just a little LOL!

Enjoy while you can :)

Good for him! So brave.
I have one that freaks out at every bump, screaming, "Am I BLEEEDING???" This is because about a year ago he fell and got a big gash above his eye that bled everywhere and needed stitches. Well the doc didn't make sure he was actually frozen before stitching. She thought he was freaking out of fear. Turns out he wasn't frozen. poor kid, he was only 3.
I am glad your son is okay and none the worse for wear.

Holy cow, is he trying to kill us all?! Doesn't he know how stressful calls like that are? Oh, no, that's right, he doesn't... but he will someday (insert evil laugh here).

Oh my gosh! I would have freaked out. Once when Parker was three, he fell and hit his nose and it bled. Kate, who was six, helped him with a towel while I laid down on the couch lightheaded.

Good reaction on both your and your son's parts. I'm glad the injury turned out to be minor.

I have to ask...did you ask LG if there was blood on his shirt to ascertain the severity of his injury or to find out how much more laundry you'd be doing? :)

Seriously, though, I'm glad to hear he's alright and was so calm. Must not have hurt that much.
