Reading Levels

Y'all, the weirdest thing. I just plugged in my url in the Reading Level site. My readability level is high school. Meh. Then I plugged in Formica Fields' url. Check it out:

Goodness.... I'm more brilliant than I thought I was. Mine was ranked at the College/Undergrad level as well.

Which, quite frankly, surprises me considering all the times I say "Dude".

Although....maybe its the fact that it reads somewhat like a fratboy's speech pattern that tipped me over that level? ;)

Mine comes in at elementary school. Yikes! I guess it's the grant writer in me that writes to the 5th grade level!

Mine came in at junior high level. Ouch. I better starting saying OMG and like more often.

The must have just noticed the title of my blog or maybe all the "friggin" or "shit" or "dammit" and gave me a high school rating LOL!

This was neat and fun!!

Those cows are very educated.

I used to rank college but have somehow slipped to junior high. I'm a bit saddened by this.

This little doohickey and how people respond to it cracks me up! It is checking the readability of your blog... When you get genius it means that a person has to be a genius to read what you are writing. When it says High School, Jr. High or Undergrad... it means that those reading it will have to have attained that level of education to understand it. It has to do with sentence structure, word choice and that sort of thing. There are actually programs for those interested in writing to lower the readability of what they write. If you write at an Elementary level... it does not mean that your content is elementary... just that it is presented in a way that someone in grade school could follow it. The lower the readability of your blog, articles, stories or whatever... the more people out there will be able to enjoy it. Does that make sense? It is funny because a dear friend of mine (who I hope does not read your blog) is always running her stuff through her computer to check to see the grade level of what she's written. She will go back and change things until she gets it to the level she wants it at. She's a smart gal but... she's not getting that one. I guess it all depends on what you are going for and what it means to you. The discrepancy between your two blogs just means that Formica Fields is harder for people to get.

Both of my blogs came up as Genius. That is too weird!

Um... mine is rated at elementary school, no matter how many big words I throw in. I'm not complainin'.
