Update. Joke Included.

I have an update on the Hunny, but before I do, I have to share a joke a friend sent me:

Two rather old retired racehorses are in a bar getting totally drunk. After about two hours the first racehorse says "You know.... when I was a young racehorse...from one hundred starts, I won (hic) 90 races, got 5 seconds and 5 thirds.... I am without doubt the greatest racehorse that ever lived....blah blah blah..."

In response to this and approximately a half an hour later the second racehorse responded, "Oh yeah...when I was a young racehorse...from one hundred starts, I won (hic) 95 races, got 2 seconds and 3 thirds.... I am the greatest racehorse that ever lived.... blah blah blah..."

Now it was about this time that the bartender (a greyhound) decided that they were drunk enough so he said, "I am sick of you two telling one another how great you are, you are both drunk and I am throwing you out of the bar, but before I do I want to let you know that when I was a young greyhound, from one hundred starts, I won 100 races, no seconds and no thirds."

The two racehorses were shocked and for 5 minutes sat with their mouths open until the fist racehorse finally said, "Isn't that amazing (hic)...a talking greyhound!"

*********************************************************

So we get to the .. y'know, I have no idea where we went. They were very clear that it wasn't a hospital, but it sure LOOKED like one. Anyway, the Hunny went into surgery early and the doc came out after about half an hour. Turns out there was no torn meniscus. No torn anything. In fact, the joint, ACL and everything are healthy. Yay! As soon as the scope went in, the surgeon found a build up of icky fluid, which he flushed out. And that was IT! Praise God! So we're home now.

According to the doctor and the people at the not-a-hospital, Hunny can walk as soon as he can tolerate weight on the leg. He'll be back at work on Monday. And somewhat sedated for the next day or two, I think, if the prescription they wrote is any indication of what kind of pain to expect.

On the way home from the not-a-hospital, Hunny was ravenous. He hadn't eaten since midnight last night and it was after five when we passed a McDonalds and he began to drool, so I pulled in and ordered double cheeseburgers for everyone! That's the up side to surgery, you know.

Thank you all, again, for your encouragement and prayers. Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Until I write again ...

Flea

I am so happy that went as well as it did!!! Torn anything in a knee is a really bad deal.

LOL...Talking greyhound....

Good news it wasn't something worse...but really why didn't they try to drain it before they did surgery? Odd!

YAY! I'm glad he is already on the mend.

I am so happy that all is well with Hunny. My NSLO (not so little one, my daughter) shredded her ACL and ripped her maniscus 1 year ago. It is hard surgery and a long recovery with PT. So happy that you all do not have to go through that.

Hunney ain't a real man unless he can stretch the "walk when tolerated" into at least a week! (assuming of course that the wife keeps his ice tea glass filled)

So glad that it was easy to fix. The Old Goat is always hungry in those situations as well!

When they clamp your leg into that A-frame for the surgery it is like a knee sprain and that hurt about as bad as anything. The holes from the scope healed over quickly but it took me a good week or two to get the knee unstiff. Back then I was still able to take alcohol. Better than drugs for me. MUD

Glad hunny is okay.

Whats the deal with "not a hospital"? Is this name issue because of billing and insurance? Very odd.

So glad it wasn't worse. Knee injuries take a while to heal. But of course double cheeseburgers really help!

And your smocking talent is amazing!

He was looking to get out of more yard work anyway, right?

Glad he's not any worse. We'll keep him in our prayers.

So ... I loved the joke, first off. Secondly? I'm really glad to learn your husband's knee issues weren't serious. Knees are so doggone painful when they're messed up! I hope he's back to normal soon!

YAY! See? I knew he'd be fine! ;)

I love how the doctors and such try so hard to convince you that a Surgical Center is not a hospital because half the time it's on the same property and shares the same parking lot and the "real" hospital.
