Woohoo! I been SUPERTAGGED! J the Grockle has supertagged ME! With a Christmas meme. Alright ... I had to lay down a little guilt first to get a tag. Who's a loser? Me. Yeah. But check it out!
Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? See, here's where we run into our first problem. Ordinarily I'd say hot chocolate, because I hate that gummy stuff in stores they call egg nog. But home made egg nog? Kicks some serious butt. I'm making a huge batch next week for a Christmas party. To die for!!!
Does Santa wrap presents or set them under the tree? Santa's a wrapper. A fat white wrapper. Prolong the agony, I say.
Speaking of wrapping - one year Santa and Mrs. Claus were wrapping gifts around midnight Christmas Eve and watching a movie which Mrs. Claus' Evil Sister recommended. Let me just say here that watching Kill Bill while wrapping Christmas gifts is not the best idea ever. Mrs. Claus says so.
Colored lights on tree or white? Colored. So long as they're not all blood red, we're good.
When do you put your decorations up? Whenever I think to, or the kids either bug me enough or start hauling out all the stuff. I'm not really a decorator.
What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? What? Does egg nog count? It's not dessert, right? Probably bigos, or my MIL's Polish Christmas Soup. Yummy stuff. The only way I'll eat sauerkraut.
Favorite Holiday memory as a child: Probably putting up the tree every year. When I was little my dad found a fake tree in someone's trash. The pole was busted, but the branches were in perfectly good shape. Growing up south of New Orleans, we lived in a trailer (nearly everyone did). Dad got a 2x2 and screwed holes all over it, then would screw it into the wall and stuff the branches in. We always had a very full half tree at Christmas, growing out of the wall. Very cool. Some years, in smaller trailers, we had a quarter tree when the only space was the corner.
When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Santa is real. That's the truth, people.
Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? At LEAST one gift Christmas Eve! Alright. Just one.
How do you decorate your Christmas tree? The kids decorate the tree now, which I love. Christmas is for them, after all. The first year they decorated, it was tough for me, but the following year it was all them. We just throw on whatever's in the boxes.
Snow! Love it or Dread it? LOVE IT!!! Heck, one of the reasons we moved from Orlando to Tulsa was to see at least a little snow. And in two years we've had about an inch. Dang.
Can you ice skate? I ice skated once when I was 15 and visited a friend in Chicago. That's the extent of my expertise.
Do you remember your favorite gift? I hate the favorite gift questions! My memory's so faulty. I know I have one. My favorite anniversary gift was my Rowenta steam iron. Oh! Oh! Fred & Bessie! They're my favorite Christmas gift! And they're not here anymore ...
What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Family
What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Mmmm. Cheesecake is always my favorite dessert. All year long.
What is your favorite tradition? Reading the story of the birth of Christ on Christmas Eve, from the book of Luke.
Which do you prefer, Giving or Receiving? Giving, of course! Especially when I can afford to have fun with it.
What is your favorite Christmas Song? Typically I'd say Silent Night or O Holy Night, but Veggie Tales' Polish Eight Foods of Christmas song has rapidly become a favorite. It's definitely NOT Dominick the Donkey. Gaahhh!
Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Growing up one of my favorite things in the stocking was the giant candy cane. Mmm! But I'm with J - finding my children's candy canes stuck to furniture, or covered in ants under their bed? No longer a treat.
Ever recycled a Christmas present? Lalalala! What?
Don't Be A Scrooge! Tag 7 friends to Deck the Halls...
He he he. This is the fun part. Because you know you want to play.
My newest friend, Warty Mammal, wants to play. I know she does.
It's been awhile since I tagged Asthma Girl, right? And it's Christmas! What a great gift to give a friend - a meme!
Tammy, at Color of Home, weaves a fun tale. I'd love to hear more about her Christmas.
Laura, at Silence is Broken (in my home, silence is golden), needs to reveal the inner working of Christmas at her house.
I'd absolutely love it if Dlyn would reveal what Fred and Bessie think of Christmas, since they'll talk to her kitchen cows but they won't talk to me.
What say we ask Melissa-with-two-Ms to play? What Hope is there for Christmas at her house?
Ooo! Only one more! Mmmmmm ... I choose ... Straight Shooter! After seeing her Halloween photos, my curiosity is up to know what Christmas looks like in her home!
That's all I've got, bloggy friends!
Until I write again ...
