The Latest Smocking Project

Shh! Is Karen Deborah around? Please tell me she's still in California and no longer has internet access? I'll show you why:

It's not my fault. Really. My Hunny, who's an artist and designer, chose the colors for this dress. He swore they'd work. I worked on it this weekend, cussing at the colors. I don't like them. Don't EVEN lie to me and tell me that you do.

I can see a child loving the colors. Which is good if a child will be wearing the dress. Which is what the dress is for. But the green, fuchsia and turquoise? I just can't wrap my eyeballs around them. Stabbing pain behind the right eyeball.

What? Don't you see the turquoise? It's in the top right corner, a little feather stitching, and will travel across the entire width of the pleating, as well as below the fuchsia. It is KILLING ME. Yet the Hunny swears it will work. I'll keep at it till I'm done.

Just, please, for Pete's sake, don't tell Karen Deborah? I, um, want it to be a surprise. Yeah. That's it. And if she asks, her granddaughter is going to love it.

Until I write again ...

um, after that intro I hate to admit this... but I like that color combination. Really-- you can't beat fuchsia with green but then throw in a turquoise for good measure? I love it. I'd do Miss Ky's room in those colors.

Not a fan of pinks of any description really, but I do think this is going to be a nice combo. You do good work!

It could work. Hunny might be right!

Well, I was thinking how much I liked the colors when I read that you don't like them. Oops!

Honestly, I like all of those colors. They look fresh and springy and fun. I would wear them!

Oh - the smocking is fabulous!

Um, hate to break it to you, but you did buy that fabric right? Did you notice the colors on it? While I would not personally wear those colors (at the same time; individually is fine), I can see a child loving them!

And since I can't smock, I think it all looks great, no matter what color. :)

I think those are perfect colors for a Spring/Easter dress for a little girl.

It has potential. So......Does that means your Hunny won't be picking out any colors for you any time soon? :)

What's wrong with those colors? I don't see a problem at all. You need new glasses.

Your grandmother would love it - her sorority colors.

I think it is bright and vibrant and some little girl will love it!!!

I have Karen's cell number programmed into my cell phone. How much is it worth to ya?

Seriously, it looks like the adorable colors they put together at Gymboree. Though I am with you, I would not want to work with such colors. Though have many outfits I put on my girls in those color combinations and love it.

BTW-the straight hair profile picture gives you that 20 something look. I like it.

Oh how I hate to agree with a man but I like it. I think the colors go nicely together.

Hubby has a good eye for things like that. The colors work wonders on that fabric.

Too busy admiring the handiwork to worry about the colors. Please tell me you have a machine that does that - and tell me how to do it.

I'm half thinking your Hunny was right and half thinking he might have been setting you up. I don't know him well enough to guess which one! My own opinion is that the green might be a little too olive-y for the combination, but it will probably end up being like the pink-and-chocolate-brown colour combo which I started out hating and now think is soooo pretty. :-D Beautiful smocking, by the way!

Oh dear gawd, Flea... the handiwork is amazing. When are we gonna start talking about the girl's matching Easter dresses?

I. Can't. Wait.

After reading all the comments, it sounds like your Hunny should be put in charge of all colors in your life!

It's beautiful smocking. Wish I had that talent. And patience.

Well, I think that the colors work perfectly on the dress for a little girl! And they look beautiful on that print. However, on an adult? It would make your eyeballs blow up!

BTW, I adore the dress that you made for my cousin! Beautiful! I've intended to post pics on my blog, but I've just not done it yet. You're so talented!
