Today, though, being Saturday and all, just a few cute rodents:
When we pulled into the Woodward Park parking lot, a couple of very chubby squirrels walked up to the truck. I was almost afraid to get out, since they looked like they were about to eat me alive. The darn things were chubby enough to have been feasting on park patrons - see?
Then a lady drove up in a truck, put her window down and started throwing peanuts (shelled) out of the window. She says she comes every day and throws peanuts, some days seeing 50 squirrels. These are NOT Georgia squirrels. I don't think peanuts are part of their natural diet.
(No, it's not 50, but they were a little scattered)
I mean, just LOOK how chubby these little guys are! Aren't they the cutest things EVER?
And the whole time I was enjoying the squirrels, all I could think was, "Wonder if her doctor will give her a little pill?"
Until I write again ...

Around these parts, fox squirrels are a rare find. I can't believe every one in the photos are the fox variety. Just beautiful! Except the one with what looks like an open sore on it. Kinda mangy.
I have seen those squirrels eating out of peoples hands. When we lived in Tulsa, that was a favorite past time...to go to Woodward park and watch all the photographers and see the squirrels walk tentatively up to humans. Fun times.
OMG! That's exactly what I was thinking.... squirrels with thyroid conditions!
I have no comment. Nope.
It is always amazing that different people look at the same thing and see such different things. These bushy tailed rodents will eat you out of house and home if you give them half a chance. In fact they will try to eat their way into your home and won't even thank you. Just yesterday one of the guys at the Barber Shop was talking about how proud his 9 year old was to shoot and then eat his first squirrel. He didn't have a camera. MUD
ROFL...how could you not think that. I hear ya! They are adorable and so happy in their chubby state. Wonder if there's a lesson here. Not.

And...
Happy Anniversary!
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!
Squirrels are EVIL! Believe me, I'm the Evil Sister. I should know. They look all cuddly and cute to lure you into a false sense of security. Then they chew through your roof and eat all your wiring and poop in your insulation.
Don't believe the lie! Open your eyes to the malice that lurks behind those beady little eyes!

Happy anniversary!
Great squirrels.
Happy Anniversary, a day early. And this is a good way to view squirrels - miles away from your home. We have about a half dozen hanging around these days. Our are gray though - and not as chubby :)
I just can't tell you how much I love the little buggers when they eat my outside pillows & tablecloths. I especially like it when they dig in my plants to bury pecans they've brought from the neighbor's yard across the street. Or when they dig crevices in the back yard that are equal to landmines.
In fact, I love them so much that I bought hubby a pellet gun so he could play with them on the weekends, lol. As cute as they can appear, I agree with Marguerite. They are evil little monsters.
One got in our attic last year & trust me when I say it was terrifying, the noise the little bugger made. We eventually found where he was getting in one day & hubby was able to seal it before the little guy returned. Whew! Huge bullet dodged there. Don't even get me started on them chewing through cable lines and such. Why can't they just bite into the electrical wires? I could live with that. Fried squirrel sounds like tasty roadkill to me.
But hey - I hope you two had a wonderful anniversary!
Great story. I feed birds and the squirrels steal my food. All part of nature, I guess. I try to not let it get to me. Happy anniversary!
I know they're wearing their fluffy winter coats, but do you think they're healthy? All those peanuts might be making them obese. If you catch one falling out of a tree, then you'll know for sure they're overfed.
Happy anniversary! I hope you enjoyed your squirrel trek. I think they are adorable - even if super fat.
Leave the fat squirrels alone. They aren't trying to sit next to you an an airplane, are they? Heh. I think the little buggers are adorable, but i don't want 'em living in my attic. I would like a few to haul off the pecans that aren't gonna get picked up, tho. Dunno where my tree rats have gone.
My squirrels are missing, too, along with a well-used set of marbles. Wonder if the two are related... Great pics, Flea. The little fuzzies are awfully cute. Makes me wanna bait parking lots with peanuts just to see if I can start a mini-epidemic to freak out the locals. Hee!
They ARE cute - if way unhealthy. I'm not sure that woman is actually helping those guys any!
I'm thinking she may want to rethink the whole "shelling" those nuts for the squirrels. I think they could use the extra work to keep the "fluff" down.
One other thing I want to know is, Why is chubby not cute on me?
Love the pictures.
