Hello There - It's Good to See You

So I was at my writer's group Saturday morning and mentioned that I hadn't posted for about three weeks. Everyone was surprised, but all had suggestions for stories of why I'd stopped. Eric wants me to tell you all that I was abducted by aliens. I didn't take too seriously Mark's idea that I tell you all I fell in a vat of melted crayon wax and have been recovering. Nice idea, though.

First, let me thank you all for your wonderfully supportive comments and emails. I'm sorry I've been so silent. I've had the computer almost completely off the last three weeks. The first week I went through some pretty serious blog withdrawals. After that I kinda liked the peace and quiet. And getting to know my family again. The kids seem to like having mom back. I know that the Hunny sure does.

So I'm at a crossroads. I don't want to stop blogging. But I like my real life. And part of me thinks I just burned out for a bit and needed a break. But I'm afraid of the addictive nature of the blog. So I'm here for now. I just may be sporadic about it. I'm currently working out a system for ti, because I love you, my bloggy friends, and want to continue visiting with you all.

About my search for self and life - still in the midst of that. A new blog friend recommended I talk to an objective third party. Initially I made an appointment to speak with someone, but he weirded me out. I'll be speaking with someone who sounds a lot more normal sometime this week. It's a good thing.

Funnybone Monday will resume this week. And I'll go from there. Thank you all so much for your support. I'll be visiting all of you in the next day or two. Really!

Oh, concerning the physical stuff? Y'all know about Maybelline's mono and pink eye. My Hunny threw out his back the following weekend and is just now recovered. Little Guy had strep this last week. And I have an icky cold. So does Oatmeal Head. It's just not a pretty winter in our household. On the other hand, Flash and Patches are up to date on shots and the vet says they're healthy. Yay!

Until I write again ...

Flea

P.S. I had my hair all chopped off this week. No photos yet, but I'm thinking I like it. :)

Flea! It was such a lovely surprise to see you pop up on my blog this morning. I'm glad to hear that you're on a path to finding the answers you need, and hair chopping sounds like a great place to start. As for me? I'm still working out the questions...

It's good to see you, for however long.

It's so good to hear your voice again, both on my blog and here in this space. Sounds like your time away was restorative and that's always good.

My search for self is on-going. I've found blogging pushes me along, but I know what you mean about it overtaking things. Here's to balance!

P.S. Hope you find a good counselor. I think a good one is worth his (or her) weight in gold.

Yikes about the colds, etc. That sounds...like family togetherness. :)

I understand the need for balance from the internet, and I hope you find it soon.

I take little breaks now and then from blogging quite frequently. I think to myself that not every day of my life is really blog-worthy. ;-)

Just blog when the muse hits you is my advice. (And Twitter is fun to use for me too.)

Good to hear from you! I'd like to see the new do!

I will continue to pray for you as you work through things! And don't worry about blogging! I think we all would rather hear from you sporadically than not at all!

Lovely to "see" you!

Achieving balance is challenging. We have to do some things to nourish our individual selves, otherwise what we have to offer others and our relationships is reduced. To some extent, I classify blogging in that category. It's an opportunity to be reflective, to record important events, to share others' thoughts and important events. Sometimes there are just things we need to get off our chests, and this can be one way to take care of that.

At the same time, it can reach a point where, like any other activity, it begins to suck away too much time and become tiring. I reached that point with photography a couple of years ago. I had a camera in my hand constantly, determined to not miss recording a single moment of my son's life or times out with my family. I spent so much time recording life that I wasn't really living. Finally I became less obsessive (not that you're obsessive) and decided I needed to live more and record less. I still take photos fairly regularly, but I feel like I'm present in life more.

That's life, I guess. In any endeavor, whether it's blogging, photography or making desserts, we can reach a point where we realize that we don't want to stop altogether, but perhaps things need to slow down a tad.

May you, I, and everyone else facing this issue find peace and balance.

Hello Flea! Nice to see you back again. I have truly missed you.

Balance hmmm, if you find that secret I'd love to hear about it. Oh and short hair is very sophistocated :). Can't wait to see you.

Wow you cut off your hair?!! Zowie girl you are into liberating yo self. Dying to see it/you. i was sure happy to see you on my blogroll tonight. And I understand every word of this post. i used to write books before blogging and an article now and then for a christian newspaper. Blogging uses up my writing and now that's it. I love it. but I was on a quest to get some stuff published and that has fallen by the wayside....

This post was bittersweet! I'm glad you are (sort of) back but I'm sorry about the health issues. We aren't a very healthy house right now either!
Big hugs, thinking about you lots!
