Arrow of Light - and Contest!

I'm so proud of my Little Guy! Tuesday night he was awarded the Arrow of Light badge, complete with ceremony, and we all, including Grandma, were there to cheer him on. Hooray! I'm going to brag and show off a bit, if you don't mind. Evidently the Arrow of Light is a big deal in Scouts, being the one badge he can wear both as a Boy Scout and a leader later.

Of course, you don't just have a ceremony. A body has to eat first. This is Little Guy waiting on food.

Here are Grandma, Maybelline and Oatmeal Head, also waiting for food.

Stay tuned at the end for Oatmeal Head's solo movie debut. Heh. These are real Boy Scouts, in the ceremony to pass the Arrow to the Cub Scout, who's becoming a real Boy Scout.

A proud Hunny, adjusting Little Guy's new Boy Scout neckerchief for his new troop.

There! Just right.

Little Guy and his Arrow and badge - he loves his Arrow and will be building a display box for it.

Finally, Little Guy with the Natives who performed the ceremony!

I'm so proud! Aaaaand ... I think, since Little Guy has graduated to Boy Scouts, that he should get a new name here in bloggy land. So I'm holding a contest to name my boy! Enter your suggestion in the comments and I'll let my boy judge them and choose a name for himself from the contributions. I don't know, yet, what the prize will be, but next week I'll be in Louisiana and will pick up something special there.

Deadline for entry is Saturday at noon, whatever noon is in your part of the world. 'K?

Oh! Almost forgot. Oatmeal Head's solo movie debut!

Until I write again ...

Flea

Aww, he looks so proud, and rightfully so. Maybe a nickname related to his new status? Arrowhead? Or just Arrow, so that it doesn't sound too odd with Oatmeal Head?

Funny video too. He's on his way to Hollywood that one.

In generall keeping with the theme, I'm going with Big Guy. And that OH, I had no idea that he was so incredibly talented.

Aww. I bet he is SO proud. My son's blue and gold banquet was on Monday - he got a badge that none of the other scouts got and was SO proud of himself.

He and his father had to walk home because his little brother HAD to go to bed and I think if they hadn't taken a cold walk home he would have been bouncing until midnight.

It is such a huge deal.

I am proud, too! I don't want him to have a big name. He's still the baby. How 'bout Puddin' Head?

Congrats!!! That is a BIG deal, so cool that his siblings supported him.

I'm thinking Scout, or is that too "To Kill a Mockingbird"?

Scout Dude, or SD for short.

Tent Hugger (he will be camping, right?)

Not-so-Little Guy?

I'm stretching here, trying not to copy everyone's Arrowhead. It's later and Miss Ky has left her bed again....
Good luck with the name!

How about The Cherokee Kid, the Cherokee nation isn't that far from where you live.

Or sagonige "sah go nee gay" that is the Cherokee word for blue. I'm guessing that is his favorite color.

How about "Red Rocks in his head" or Red Rocks for short. Does he have a spirit guide animal? Follows Buffalo. Paririe Dog Guard. Sleeps on ground. Big Flat Rock or "BFR" for short.
My best friend earned the Order of the Arrow one summer and he had to spend the night outside in a loincloth. He was so chewed up by the mosquitoes that it was pritiful. The next day they had to carry a rock everywhere they went. One of the older guys found a rock with a hole in it and made a stick drag for his rock. His Indian name was dragging rock. MUD

What a great accomplishment! My Dad was a scout leader and we always got to go to the family camp on Cayuga Lake [Camp Barton] every summer. So I know Scouts, mkay? Heap Big Guy - that should it. Trust me.

Hmmmm...you're in Indian Territory, so it should definitely be
Indian-y. I vote for Heap Big Guy! (I'm not good at coming up with these things!)

I normally don't enter contests to keep from winning. All I did was speak from my heart with ideas. I would love to have your group eat some real treat and dedicate it to MUD. You could even put a picture in the blog. I have everything I need and most of what I want. Except I can always use more firends. MUD

I think you should call him your Savage! Or Baloo as in Baloo & Gold Banquet the scouts have.
