In Bed ...

We had Chinese delivery last night from Hot Wok. Very good. And afterward we all dove into our fortune cookies. I'm sure many of you play this game, designed to make any innocent teenage girl blush:

There's more to balance than not falling over ... in bed (Maybelline's)

You are a traveler at heart. There will be many journeys ... in bed (The Hunny's - and there better not be any traveling)

You simplify your life in many ways and find great rewards ... in bed (mine - and yes, yes I do)

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year ... in bed (Red Rocks)

Y'all might notice that there's no cookie for Oatmeal Head. He was at a Nickelback concert with a good friend last night. We thought long and hard before saying yes to it, but huge concerts like this can be lots of fun, and we knew he'd be with a good friend and a middle aged aunt. What could it hurt? After all, it was a Christmas gift for the friend.

This week I was skimming the web and thought to look up the concert date, finding that a band called Slipknot would be opening for Nickelback. Um. Um. Um. Don't click the Slipknot link if you have delicate sensibilities.

We had several conversations with Oatmeal Head. He and friend both did not look forward to the opening act. In fact, they planned to dawdle at dinner and arrive fashionably late. To claim their seats on the floor near the stage, or so I'm told. We'll see. Oatmeal Head is still asleep at his friend's house. And as one of my favorite cousins said, "He won't come home from the concert a Satan worshiper." True.

He won't, will he?

Until I write again ...

No - he won't come back a Satan worshipper. Maybe a mindless zombie but not a Satan worshipper! I think it is good that you let him go. Concerts are a good experience when you are young enough not to mind the volume!

The fortune cookies? Also try ending each saying with the phrase "with a monkey." But don't let Mr. Monkeysuit hear you: he might get ideas.

At worst he could not come back at all .. having joined the satan cult .. or he could end up deaf from being so close to the stage but I am thinking none of that will happen, but if it did, think of all the post fodder you'd have?!

No, he won't. However, he will look back on this in thirty or forty years when he's having the same experiences with his own kids, mentally thank you for giving him some rope, and chat with you to get advice.

Funny, you know, I had never been to a concert till I was an adult. I think I may have enjoyed it more as a teenager. I hope Oatmeal Head had a good time.
