I must face facts. My children are growing up. Maybelline turned 16 this weekend. She and Hunny have settled into a birthday routine, wherein daddy takes his little girl out for a special birthday dinner every year, so they went for Italian, then browsed the guitar store, where they found her dream pedal and headphones. The pedal plugs into the guitar as well as the Mac, and daddy set up Garage Band for Maybelline. She's in heaven.
See her at her school vocal performance last week?
She's not the only one growing up, though. Oatmeal Head, freshly minted 15, attended a dance recital this weekend. His girl who's a friend was dancing. This is the boy who wears his hats sideways and won't tuck in a shirt to save his life. See?
This is the boy who, with no prompting from his mother, came downstairs looking like this:
I give up. I'm giving them both keys to the car. They can get jobs. And move out. They're too grown up. *sigh*
Until I write again ...
Amazing and bittersweet how very fast time goes by. (sigh)
Aw.. I guess 'they' are right when 'they' say no kid walks to graduation or down the aisle in a diaper or holding their 'nudgie' (for those with dirty minds, a nudgie = Schroeder's blanket in Peanuts)
Aw.....Mom's proud moment, you've waited so long, Mr. Monkey face must've been happy to give Mouth to Mouth, did he offer? LOL!
Wow - they are growing up. However, they will always be your "babies!"
With kids--"Its Always Something. If Its Not One Thing Its Another." It IS nice when they come out of the other side of teenage hormone crazies and turn into people again.
I can't get over how much Maybelline looks like you. She is a beautiful girl.
You have reason to be proud. You have raising some pretty great people there in Oklahoma.
Sigh on....you've only just begun. Have fun!
Brace yourselves... they have a lot more growing up to do! Enjoy each phase!
I'm right there with you. I miss them being little and having little, but very noisy, problems.
Where does the time go? What happened to the little babies?
