Forgive me please, but I'm postponing Funny Bone Monday till next week. Instead, I want to encourage everyone who can to do something I feel strongly about - giving blood. This time of year there's a huge need for extra blood and I know that yours would be greatly appreciated. The Red Cross doesn't ask much. Just a pint.
I went Saturday morning at 8 AM (how crazy is that, signing up for a Saturday morning slot?). The people are friendly, see? This was the new girl who asked me a million and one questions. I enjoyed giving her a hard time. I hope she comes in to work Monday morning.
This is Lee, the fellow who took my blood OUT OF MY BODY. He's from Minnesota. He's a Vikings fan. I forgave him for that and let him take my blood anyway. GO SAINTS!!!!!

I can't show you the cookies because I didn't photograph them. I just ate them.
So go give blood! Call your local Red Cross and sign up for a time. Save someone's life this Christmas.

Can you lay down when you give blood? It's so embarassing, but I always pass out when I get blood drawn. I have B- blood, which is very rare, but I've always been afraid to give blood because I don't want to faint and fall out of the chair, and thereby create another emergency.
Giving blood is a great thing. I used to give every time I was able. Unfortunately, now they don't want my blood - too many "interesting" medications in it!
Yes ma'am, you can lay down when you give blood! My husband's a fainter, too. :)
You did such a wonderful thing Flea! I would love to give blood, however I've been on blood thinners before and they won't allow it!

We just did a blood drive at work--first one ever! Got 30 pints (and the Toad came and helped out too. Although, he may have had an ulterior motive, as it was his "gallon" if he did.)
Anyway, one of the proudest moments I ever had of the Toad was his 16th birthday--he looked at me and said all he wanted for his birthday was a ride to the blood drive--and, parental permission, of course.
oh, after I hit the button, I realized that maybe he was 17, not 16. yeah, it was 17.
And, yes, I did give blood at work. I was #3, not #1, like I wanted to be.
I'm with you on the importance of giving blood. I used to do so every time I could. Then the blood pressure thing loomed its ugly head and--then I passed out on the floor after the process. Working on getting up enough nerve to go back. Sorry the Saints lost.
After Malaria and Dengue fever, they just won't let me get near a blood drive. I have also had all the shots for deployment to places in the world that most people won't ever go to. Thank you for the blood, someone out there wil put it to good use. MUD

I haven't given blood for years and years, but I'm going to next year! They have a van that comes out to my business office and I've been afraid to do it each time, but I think I need to just pony up-there's no real reason not to!

Have they ever lifted that European Mad Cow restriction? That's when I was banned from giving blood and it was very sad since I've done it regularly since I was 17 (ok, not so long ago).
Hopefully we'll talk soon-- my life seems to be winding down a bit...
