*sigh*

Just missed a phone call this morning. My seventh grader calling from the principal's office to ask if today or tomorrow was better for after school detention. Goober.

So I called back. Spoke with the principal in my most cheerful mom voice. Told him today was certainly the best day for detention. Of course.

Why detention? My boy, when he doesn't wear his patch for ADD, talks in class.

The stick here is that he's discovered he likes detention. It's quiet and he can get homework done.

*sigh*

Until I write again ...

Oh, I get it. I do . . . I used to have a student who would purposefully not finish homework so he could sit in my "peaceful" classroom during lunch. I caught on quick. He needed the quiet time . . . I started letting him stay even when he did finish his work. Any way you and the teacher can work something out?

I wish I had detention at work so I could focus on the report I need to get done!!! I need some quiet time.

Well, if it makes you feel any better my kid likes time out - I'm totally at a loss too. Double sigh!

Actually, that's pretty smart of him.

I kinda had a similar moment, when I discovered that detention was where they were keeping all the good-looking "bad" boys, which, in our school, meant potheads with Pink Floyd blaring from car stereos.

All of a sudden, I miss school.

p.s. Liza Bean Bitey cannot wait for the mail to come. I told her she might be getting a package from someone called "Flea" and she's been grooming herself silly ever since.

It's funny how they figure out the quirky stuff. Good luck. I'm SOOO glad mine are grown and on their own. Sometimes I don't know how I/we managed. Good luck.
