iPad? Netbook? Both? Blogging tools

I need blogging advice. I need technical advice. Someone out there in bloggy land PLEASE help me?

I'd like to purchase the latest version of the iPad sometime in the next month.

My current laptop is five years old. Yes, I'll be buying an external hard drive this week and backing everything up. Tens of thousands of photos.

I might like to buy a new laptop when this one dies.

Question: For blogging, will the iPad do the trick (all the back end stuff on WordPress), or will I need to have a conventional computer/laptop?

Or will a little netbook be all I need in addition to the iPad?

Do I even need an iPad, or should I get the netbook?

Here's the deal - I really WANT the iPad. The photo quality on the latest one is amazing. Mamarazzi am I. Currently I use my iPhone for photos. So I could keep using my phone and just get the netbook, save money.

It's about mobility. My current laptop, besides being old, is a 17", making it bulky and unwieldy for carting around. That, and the battery is dead. Has been almost from the beginning. Not worth replacing. So I'll need some kind of computer replacement.

iPad? Netbook? Both? Do I need both? For you bloggers out there who have one, is the iPad a useful blogging tool?
