Have they ever lifted that European Mad Cow restriction? That's when I was banned from giving blood and it was very sad since I've done it regularly since I was 17 (ok, not so long ago).

Hopefully we'll talk soon-- my life seems to be winding down a bit...

I haven't given blood for years and years, but I'm going to next year! They have a van that comes out to my business office and I've been afraid to do it each time, but I think I need to just pony up-there's no real reason not to!

After Malaria and Dengue fever, they just won't let me get near a blood drive. I have also had all the shots for deployment to places in the world that most people won't ever go to. Thank you for the blood, someone out there wil put it to good use. MUD

I'm with you on the importance of giving blood. I used to do so every time I could. Then the blood pressure thing loomed its ugly head and--then I passed out on the floor after the process. Working on getting up enough nerve to go back. Sorry the Saints lost.

We just did a blood drive at work--first one ever! Got 30 pints (and the Toad came and helped out too. Although, he may have had an ulterior motive, as it was his "gallon" if he did.)

Anyway, one of the proudest moments I ever had of the Toad was his 16th birthday--he looked at me and said all he wanted for his birthday was a ride to the blood drive--and, parental permission, of course.

Can you lay down when you give blood? It's so embarassing, but I always pass out when I get blood drawn. I have B- blood, which is very rare, but I've always been afraid to give blood because I don't want to faint and fall out of the chair, and thereby create another emergency.
