The Good Flea Is Built by a Vendor

A New York Flea Market Created From the Vendor Side of the Booth

I started The Good Flea from the vendor side of the booth.

Before I ever built a market, I lived through what so many of us already know: getting into the right market is often harder than it has to be.

I remember finding a spot that looked like a perfect fit, applying, and then waiting—sometimes until the opportunity felt completely out of reach. And when I finally got accepted? The fees were high, the space was tight, and the expectations were murky. That frustration is exactly what shaped The Good Flea.

I’m building this market because I know what it’s like to load in your own products, set up your booth, hope for the foot traffic, and make every weekend count.

Why a Vendor-Built Market?

Vendors bring discovery, energy, and an unforgettable experience to shoppers. I know this because I have experienced it from the vendor side of the booth.

I have also seen how often vendors are sidelined. We are asked to pay, set up, sell, pack down, and repeat, often without much say in how the market grows or how the experience could improve.

I have found myself asking:

What would make this easier for sellers?
What would help vendors grow?
What would make the market worth returning to?
What kind of communication do vendors need?
How can booth fees feel more accessible?
How can the market support both new and experienced sellers?

The Good Flea was created around those questions and my own experience trying to build something as a vendor.

We Know the Friction Vendors Face

I know that many vendors are not just looking for a place to sell. We are trying to build something.

Some of us are launching our first handmade business, testing a vintage resale concept, bringing an online brand into the real world, trying to grow beyond Etsy, Instagram, or word-of-mouth, some already sell at markets but want more consistency, stronger community, and better access to shoppers.

I have experienced how real these challenges can be.

The Good Flea exists because I have experienced these problems firsthand, and I believe they deserve a better answer.

The Kind of Market We Want to Build

The Good Flea is being built to become one of New York’s most loved flea markets, a place known for discovery, character, and community.

We want it to be a market where vendors can grow, a market where shoppers return because they know the mix will be interesting, a market where early vendors are remembered as the people who helped build the foundation.
